Traditional education institutions are failing us. Students are like birds who have grown up within a zoo sanctuary. They’re taught all the skills to thrive in an artificially created environment for the purpose of being easily contained and ensuring they appear great for those who take the time to notice.
However, should that bird ever be released in the wild, it wouldn’t even know which direction to fly, let alone have any of the skills required to survive in the ecosystem.
The exact same thing is happening to our students.
We are failing to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to live fulfilling lives.
Mental health stats say enough but I look at our culture as an even bigger indicator.
The best way to look at this is a food analogy.
Each week you need a level of calories to survive, however all foods arent created equal, the types of food you eat impacts the nutrition you receive.
Similarly, in life, human's feel a desire to experience a certain level of joy. However, how you obtain this joy isn't created equal. There are what you can call high-calorie, sugar-rush experiences such as binge drinking, social media, TV and nourishing experiences such as experiencing fulfilment, great relationships, meditating.
Our problem is we have failed to teach people how to identify what gives them fulfilment. It is left to blind luck.
If you no longer want to leave it to blind like, the Rudder Experience empowers you to identify your core drivers, your personal philosophy and a career helping you align your head, heart and hands.
